gengil pd:6

Hey, I don't really know what to write in this blog… so I'm just going to write about myself. My name is Gengil Rodriguez, most people have  a difficult time pronouncing it, but I don't really mind because I understand its not a common nor easy name. I believe that everyone is different and should be allowed to express their individuality, in my case is through my makeup and my clothes.I'm most passionate about make up and fashion. I'm most confident when my makeup and outfit are as us teens say "on point," or perfect.

part 2

My results for the "what kind of reader are you? " quiz ,was fiction. The results stated that I like to escape my world and problems through my reading. I completely agree with the results I got from this quiz, I like to feel emotionally engaged on the books, or stories I read. The last good read I had was The Fault In Our Stars, it's a love story about two teenagers with cancer. What I most like about this story is that even though they do have cancer and have a million reasons to give up , but they don't. Their love is so strong that it keeps going no matter the situation.

PART 3 ( 2.7)

The fault in our stars chapter 21

Augustus dies eight days after he had attend his "pre funeral". Hazel finds out about Augustus death by a phone call form his mom, Hazel calls Isaac to let him know . She thinks about her last days with Augustus. Hazel says that the pain that she is feeling is worst than any pain she ever got from cancer, and she thinks how it’s like being slammed by endless waves but being unable to drown. She calls Augustus’s voicemail, attempting to revisit their magical “third space,” but nobody answers. She checks Augustus’s online profile, and condolences are already piling up. She imagines Augustus’s philosophical analysis of one comment about him playing basketball in heaven, because he never really liked it. Finally, Hazel goes out to the living room couch, where she and her parents hug each other for hours.

This chapter for me was the hardest to read because I felt an attachment to Augusts and I could really feel Hazel's pain. I could still see my dry tears on my book from reading this. Although it is just a story I could just imagine the hundreds of families and teens going through this and how hard it must be.
If I  were to use notes on this reading I would of used thought bubbles.

PART 4 (3.7)

Allegiant chapter 55

Caleb tells Tobias what Tris wanted him to say if she didn't make it  "That she didn't want to leave you".Tobias is mad that Tris didn't just let Caleb, Tris brother, die in her place.
Caleb's kind of asking himself the same thing, because he had been the worst brother anyone could have.
They decide, it's time to pull the plug on Uriah who's been in comma for a while after been throughout an explosion.

This chapter got me a little confuse and also kinda mad because, I though Tris was going to let Caleb die since he almost killed her once. I felt sorry for Tobias who had to let his best friend,Uriah go the same day he finds out his girlfriend died.

I think the author use this to surprise us because everyone was expecting Caleb to die and not tris, as he was the most hated person. The pattern of organization i observe was classification.

PART 4 (4.8)

divergent chapter 5

After the aptitude test yesterday, today is the Choosing Ceremony where the 16-year olds actually get to choose their faction.
At the ceremony, each 16-year old gets cut and puts some blood in a bowl symbolizing one of the factions: the bowls are filled with "gray stones for Abnegation, water for Erudite, earth for Amity, lit coals for Dauntless, and glass for Candor" .Marcus gives a speech about democracy and choice . He explains that each group blames evil on some aspect of human personality, so they organize against that part: Dauntless blame cowardice, Candor blames lies, and so on.Caleb goes before Beatrice and surprises everyone by choosing Erudite. So now Beatrice feels like she can't abandon her parents… but she chooses Dauntless anyway.

When I read this chapter of the book I was instantly shocked. i wasn't shocked because of Beatrice's  decision, but because of Caleb's. I thought that Caleb would stay in abnegation and take care of his parents, since he was so good at being in  abnegation.

The author definitely did this as a twist. We were expecting something, but got something else.

  Part  5 (5.8)
divergent chapter 6

After the Choosing Ceremony, Beatrice leaves with the Dauntless crowd.
And initiation into the Dauntless starts pretty quickly. To get to their home, Beatrice has to jump on a moving train.
Beatrice gets on with a little help from another transfer, a girl from Candor named Christina. But she sees another transfer fail to get on the train. Which means he's factionless now.
Then they have to jump off the moving train. Another candidate decides he'd rather be factionless than dead, but Beatrice helps Christina jump.
Beatrice meets Peter who is a Candor transfer who's a  a jerk. He makes Beatrice feel uncomfortable and calls her a Stiff (which is a mean term for Abnegation.)
When they arrive they have to jump from the roof to the ground to proof that they can be dauntless. Beatrice wants to show she can be brave (and not a stiff) , so she jumps first but
there's a net at the bottom. And Beatrice meets Four, who is an important guy in Dauntless, and who celebrates her for being brave enough to jump first.
She also gets to pick a new name, so she chooses Tris.

Its nice to see her transition to dauntless and all the tests she has to pass. I can picture her jumping off and on the train like she had always seen the dauntless do. I was annoyed about Peter calling her a "stiff", but because he did she jumped first and meet Four. The moment he caught  her after she jumped was pretty much Amazing and i kinda wish it was me, even though I wouldn't have been as brave as her to JUMP OFF A BUILDING .

The author made her jump first so we could all be like "oh no she didn't ! ". A definite surprise because I would off though she would be the last to jump. The author also played with our feeling a little bit by using the amazing Four to be the one helping her after she jumped.
